Vocational Grad Dip

Vocational Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology

The Vocational Graduate Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology is designed to equip those who are already involved in higher level leadership and ministry in the local church.

Students can expect to graduate from this course with a specialised knowledge of the Bible and valuable practical skills for leadership in ministry both formally and informally. The design of this course allows for the customisation of self-managed modules allowing students to focus on their main area of ministry.

Throughout this course, students will be constantly challenged as they engage in hands-on practical ministry within a Biblical framework. Students studying full-time may complete the Vocational Graduate Diploma in one year, given that they have already completed the pre-requisites studies. However, the qualification may also be completed over several years part-time, usually as an external student.

There are normally two student intakes per year, at the beginning of 1st Semester (February) and 2nd Semester (July).

As a full-time student you can anticipate being involved in the equivalent to 35 hours of study associated with this course. All modules must have a “practical” component as part of their design. This means that you have the chance to put what you are learning “into practice” within the leadership of your congregation or specialist ministry. It is important to take all this into consideration when planning your study load.

In addition to the above you will be required to:

  1. Place yourself under the direct discipling of a mentor chosen by yourself and agreed upon by CALAM Training
  2. Actively participate at a very high level in the leadership of your congregation, faith community or specialist ministry organisation.

This qualification requires the application of highly specialised theological knowledge with great depth in a number of areas (AQF8).

Graduates will be able to create procedures and manage broad theological and leadership issues through the analysis of information and concepts at an abstract level, and to demonstrate accountability for group and congregational outcomes within broad parameters and significant significant scope of operation in a variety of contexts.
